The Permissibility of wearing Amulets and the ‘Naqsh e Mohsin-e Lathani’
The word ‘Ta’aweez’, also known as Amulet literally means a Dua (Supplication). Ta’weez which contains the Holy Verses of the Sacred Quran and Holy Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) are said to be not only permissible, but also benefiting In several ways as deduced from the Ijma (consensus) of the Islamic Scholars. A Ta’weez may be explained as a du’a from the Holy Qur’an or Holy Hadith for the person who cannot read or has not memorised that particular Holy extract.
Allah Almighty announced in the Holy Qur’an,
“…We send down in Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers…” (Surah Bani Israel, Verse 82)
From the accounts of the life of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him) and His Companions (May Allah be pleased with Them), It is well highlighted that the use of Amulets (Tāweez) for the purposes of receiving Spiritual Blessings (Fayz) or to safeguard oneself from certain negative energies is established.
Hazrat Amr Ibn Shu’aib RadhiAllahu ‘anhu states,
‘RasoolAllah (Sallallahu’ alaihi wa sallam) taught my Father and Grand Father a Du’a which we would read before going to sleep, to protect us from fear and anguish. We told our elder children to recite this Du’a before going to sleep as well. But for those children who were not yet literate, we would write it and then put it around their necks.’ (Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hamnbal)
Similarly, a very authoritative and respected Scholar and Compiler of the Holy Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), Imam Bukhari (May Allah be pleased with Him), who compiled the renowned Sahih Bukhari states,
‘When a person who was sick or in some distress they would go to the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant Him peace) who would then place his hand on the area of the pain and recite a du’a and then blow onto him.’
(Bukhari, Muslim chapter on Tibb).
While following the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Holy Ahadith, the Saints of Allah have given Amulets (Tāweez) to the creation of Allah.
According to the renowned book Ghuniyat At Talibeen, Sultan Ul Awliyaa, the Sovereign of Saints, Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (May Allah be please with Him) wrote a Ta’weez for someone who had fever and also got the Ta’weez to be placed around the neck of that person. With reference to the same book, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (May Allah be Please with Him) refers to himself that “Once I had fever, and a Ta’weez was written for me to wear” (Al Ghuniyat At Talibeen, Page No. 51)
The Beloved, Sayyidi Sultan Ul Awliya’a, Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi has aided several people, both Physically and Spiritually. He has also given Amulets (Ta’aweez) to several people who have had been entangled in various sorts of Issues. Devotees narrate that several people come at His Doorstep every day, some of whom who have been released by the doctors from the hospitals saying that medical science has no further cure and the patient may die within few hours or days. According to several devotees, when those people, who are said to be breathing their last, are carried on stretchers to the Dergah of Sayyidi Sultan Ul Awliyaa, His one sight cures the people as If they were never entrapped In any issues. Moreover, as a result of this happening, several famed doctors and surgeons from well known hospitals have requested a meeting with Hazrat Sayyidi because according to their faculty of reasoning, It was inevitable that the patient be cured due to the degree and severity of Illness.
The Ta’weez in the Picture
This Ta’weez, formerly known as Naqsh e Mohsin e Lathaani (The Incomparable), was put in writing by Hazrat Sultan Ul Awliyaa, Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi, Himself on the 06th of Ramadan, 2013 at the time of Tahajju’ud.
Naqsh e Lathaani contains the word ‘Allah Hu’ in the middle in Gold, Surah Al Fatiha, Durood e Khizri, Surah Talaq (65:2-3), Surah Aale Imran (03-27-26), the blessed Names of Ya Sayyidi Sultan Muhaiyuddeen Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilaani Shae an Lillah, Khwaja Bahauddiun Naqshband Bukhari(Rahmatullah Alihe), Khwaha Muhammad Omar Shahabuddin Sohorwardi, Sultan Ul Hind Khawaja Moenuddin Chishti Ajmeri, Grand Shaykh Qutb e Jali Muhammad Yusuf Ali Nagina and the name of Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi.
(Originally, Hazrat Shaykh did not write His name out of humbleness but It was later included by the Khalifa e Akbar of Shaykh, Shaykh Imran Mohsini.)
This famed Ta’weez is being used in Naqshbandi Mohsini Sufi Order and also by the public at large for the purposes of gaining Spiritual Blessings. According to Sultan Ul Awliyaa Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi Al Naqshbandi, this Amulet (Ta’weez) prevents the person(s) from Sickness, Black Magic or any kinds of Negative energies. It also protects against all types of Evils. For instance, No Jinn with the intention of harming a person can harm him/her until or unless the Ta’aweez is with him.
The Ta’weez penned has been given the shape of a Pendant for women to wear around the neck and Pinned so that it could be worn by men. Taking in observation the Modern Social world, The Ta’weez (Ruqya) has also been designed with the Jeweller so that one may not face difficulties in wearing it where ever He/She wishes.
With reference to the Famed Naqsh e Lathaani, a pious girl from UK narrates a Miracles (Kara’amah) of Hazrat Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi. She states,
‘For a while I had been searching for reading/wazaif/taweez that would protect anyone from all evils. I was hoping I could find something simple and easy.
After a couple of weeks of this thought constantly circulating in my mind, suddenly my very good friend sent me a message about the Shaykh he was bayah (Initiated) with. I decided to find out more about Mawlana Shaykh so went on the Naqshbandi Mohsini website and after seeing an image of the Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi’s graceful bright face, I started reading about their life time achievements, their spiritual encounters I knew I had an instant connection with this Friend of Allah. Hazrat Shaykh had formed a very special taweez that is also penned into a pendant; inscribed with verses and allowed permission to His followers to practice.
I bought this taweez for myself, brother, husband and sister. All of us instantly felt a connection with it, inner peace. After this moment I would always make dua for Sayyidi Sultan Ul Awliyaa Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi Al Naqshbandi in every prayer as their smiley face would always come into my vision whenever I would think of the Friends of Allah azawajal.
A year later I took bayat to become a follower of Mawlana Shaykh. This was one of the best decisions I had ever made. During this process I felt such a strong surge of energy build up in my chest as I read out aloud my online bayat form. SubhaanAllah!
A few months after this, Alhamdulillah my husband and I got the call to perform Umrah (April 2015). During my time in Mecca Mukaramma, I would think of my Shaykh often, making dua for Him. Once from God’s grace I was granted about 15 minutes with my head on the Kab’a Shreef. As I moved away Sultan Ul Awliyaa Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi Al Naqshbandi came into my vision constantly as I am seeing my beloved Shaykh for real. I quickly put my head back onto Kab’a and made a dua for Mawlana.
On our way to Medina Shreef after performing Umrah, when I text my same friend and now brother in Tariqa and told him of this incident. His reply was not one I was expecting. ‘Congratulations, Insha Allah you will get to meet Sayyidi Shaykh’. My reply was ‘InshaAllah’, however, I did not think this was possible. How? a sinner like me, – how on Earth could I meet with such a pious friend of Allah? I didn’t really believe him. ‘Mawlana Shaykh is in Medina Shreef, would you like me to arrange for you to meet him or leave it to destiny?’ I could not believe what I was reading. Shaykh was in Medina Shreef!
My excitement was not easy to control, I was lost for words. 2 days later another pious disciple travelling with Sayyidi Shaykh arranged for me to meet with Him. I was so excited. This felt like a dream. It was so surreal. Straight after Zuhur Salah, outside of the beautiful Masjid Nabwi, in front of the Green dome, Mawlana Shaykh came into my view with his disciples following behind him. I was so overwhelmed. I didn’t know what to say, what to ask, how I was going to ask – but I didn’t have to because MashaAllah as soon as we met they started giving me so many duas, nonstop. It was as if they knew what I was going to ask them to make dua for. They said that InshaAllah we would meet again in Manchester, UK, I am desperately waiting for that moment.
No words can describe the positive vibes, inner peace and noor that I felt off Mawlana Shaykh. His smily, blessed face, kind words and duas, will never be forgotten. I went to perform Umrah but after seeing and meeting my beloved Shaykh I had performed a Hajj, SubhaanAllah!
May Allah azzawajal continue to bless and protect Sayyidi Sultan Ul Awliyaa Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi Al Naqshbandi, their family and their followers. May the Blessings of Naqshbandi Mohsini Sufi Order be keep on spreading with ultimate Baraka’h until the day of judgement as Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has said to Hazrat Sultan Ul Awliyaa Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi that the fragrance of this Dergah will keep on spreading until the day of Judgement.’
