The Virtues of first ten days of Zill Hajj
Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi relates to a Hadith: Holy Prophet ﷺ stated no other days than the first ten days of (Ashra) Zill Hajj’ are better for worship. During these days, one day’s fasting is equal to the fasting of the whole year; and one night’s worship is equal to the worship of the Shab e Qadar (the night of ascending).
Shaykh Muhammad Mohsin Munawar Yousafi further relates to a verse of Holy Quran: in Surah Al Fajar, Allah Almighty has taken the pledge of ten nights; and according to the pious people those ten nights are the nights of first ten days of Zill Hajj; especially the 9th, the day of Hajj and the night between the 9th and 10th of Zill Hajj have great excellence. The fasting on the 9th Zill Hajj is the repentance of the fasting of one previous year and the coming year. To remain awake and perform worship on the night of Eid has great excellence and has great reward.
